Description
**Originally Listed At $150**
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A leaded brass buckle comprised of a curved plate with three attachment rivets, two loop holes, a prong, and a ring that forms a bar for the belt strap to pass through. The three rivets likely attached this buckle to a leather belt. The surface has developed a nice patina and this is a fine example of a utilitarian artifact; simple and functional. A great demonstration of Roman clothing standards! Size: 1.5" L (3.8 cm); 2.25" H (5.7 cm) on included custom stand.
Provenance: Acquired at a London, UK coin fair in Mayfair in the late 1990s.
All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
