Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. A gorgeous shallow bowl made from translucent, near-colorless glass with a planar base, gradually-expanding walls, a flared rim, and a shallow basin. The interior of the based boasts a singular wheel-cut line just beneath the rim. Thick layers of rainbow-hued iridescence adorn the interior and exterior of the vessel, and gorgeous golden iridescence is visible when the vessel is turned upside-down. Size: 4.375" Diameter x 1.125" H (11.1 cm x 2.9 cm).

Provenance: ex-Davis collection, Houston, Texas, acquired before 2013 from various auction houses in London and New York

Small area of repair to bottom with minor chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Minor nicks to rim and base, with some stable hairline fissures, and some darkening to glass color. Nice earthen deposits as well as wonderful rainbow iridescence throughout. Scattered areas of golden iridescence beneath.
