ANTIQUE Spelter Sculpture of lady, Circa 1900, Art Nouveau Renaissance Revival, SIGNED AUG MOREAU with metal plaque stamped FRANCE, piece named LA BEAUTE - ( on copper metal plaque frontside) reads ‘La Beaute Par Aug Moreau (Méd. d’Or)’ Enameled White Metal with antique bronze and green tones. Clock piece dangles off torch and is weighted. Just stature measures 21 x 7.5 in. app. Louis Auguste Moreau (1834-1917), is Known for Art Nouveau allegorical figure sculptures. His subjects were primarily young maidens sensuously clad in swirling in a diaphanous dress. The name Moreau can also be associated with his famous brothers (Hippolyte, Marthurin and Auguste). Louis Auguste made his world debut at the Salon in 1861 exhibiting over 900 sculptures throughout his life.
