Description
This darling Lithograph is titled "Best Friend", dated from 1960. It is framed and matte in a simple black frame and coordinates nicely with the art, signed lower left. The piece is identified as Walter Keane, but his wife Margaret claimed to be the actual artist in 1970 and again after a lawsuit in 1986. Walter had been selling her art without her knowledge, claiming it to be his own. The former spouses were tasked to paint before the jury to prove their point. Walter claimed a shoulder injury, Margaret produced a painting in less than an hour for the jury and the judge ruled in her favor and she was awarded a $4 million dollar settlement, but never saw the money. Measures 13.5 x 28 inches. Not examined out of frame, but is definitely an off set lithograph.
Condition
Art appears in excellent condition with minor toning appearing on the matte. Not examined out of frame.
