Large lot of approx. 20 early woodblock printed Japanese newspapers, including some of the first issues of the first newspapers in the country, 1860s-1880s. Comprising of: Shinbun zasshi (新聞雑誌, 1871), Chugai Shin’bun (中外新聞, 1868, 5 vols , the first private newspaper published by the Japanese), Naigai shimpo (内外新報, first issues, 1868), Ochikochi shimbun (first issues, 1868), Gaikoku Jimu Nisshi (外国事務日誌, Diary of Foreign Affairs, 1868, including a folded map of Kawaguchi Settlement), Yubin hochi shimbun (no. 28, Tokyo, 1872), Nichi Nichi shimbun and more.
