Description
Nick and Theresa Leekela Zuni Multi-Inlaid Sterling Silver and Braided Leather Indian Chief Bolo Tie (Signed) - This exquisite, museum quality Native American piece is a Zuni bolo tie with an ornate multi-inlay design depicting a Native American chief. The piece was made by husband and wife team Nick and Theresa Leekela, and is created with expertly placed inlaid mother of pearl, jet, turquoise, coral, and serpentine, resting on a sterling silver slide on a braided black leather bolo. This piece comes from a collection which has been housed in a vault for over 40 years. According to our seller, her parents started in the Native American jewelry business in 1972, and the family would travel to the New Mexico Native American reservations and purchase pieces directly from the tribes. They eventually went into the gold jewelry business and have kept these pieces in their private collection for over 40 years. This piece is hand-signed on the back of the piece. Measurements: 40" tie, 3.25" x 2" slide. Condition: This piece is in very good vintage condition with a lovely patina and all inlay intact. Please see matching belt buckle in the following lot.
