A Norwegian gilded silver,plique-a-jour, and translucent enamel Viking bowl, Marius Hammer, circa 1900. Formed as a medieval Viking longship, the prow with a dragon head in shades of blue and purple, the mouth open to reveal rows of teeth and a curled red tongue, the stern with a lively scrolling tail enameled in panels of turquoise, purple, green, red, and yellowplique-a-jour, the body enameled with bands of red and yellow flowers within scrolling pale blue fields,the upper border with a row of stylized green flowers in a turquoise ground, raised on an oval foot of green and blue, the interior enameled in deep translucent red over a hatchedground. The underside with stamped maker's mark and 930 silver standard.Length: 6 in. (15.2 cm); height 2 1/2 in.(6.3 cm).
