Italian, walnut frame with turned legs and feet, H stretchers, set with early possibly original tooled leather upholstery in the Renaissance manner with caryatid figures centering a shield emblazoned with dragon, edges set with brass studs, 6-1/4 x 14 x 8-3/4 in. - Provenance: Private Collection - Note: The crest on the tooled leather upholstery of this stool may relate to Cardinal Scipione Borghese (1577-1633) . He was a patron of the arts and sponsored Caravaggio and Bernini, and established the famous art collection at the Villa Borghese and Museum in Rome.

frame with scattered pest damage with associated losses, especially at one leg, possible restorations at stretchers (dowel joints are visible, suggesting possible restoration) , possibly original upholstery with some distress and areas of repair, later supports at underside
