Description
Pair of Neoclassical style gilt bronze urns, in the manner of Ferdinand Barbedienne (French 1810-1892), of amphora form with two handles, with acorn finial and the bodies with a 'Dancing Hours' Bacchanalian scene of maidens dancing with Bacchus (Dionysus), raised on black round stepped plinth bases. 20” H x 5.25” diameter. Provenance: Removed from a 157 East 57th Street estate. Wear, losses. Note: the Dancing Hours scene was inspired from a chimneypiece frieze that once belonged to the Palazzo Borghese in Rome, Italy.
