John Adams Signed Promissory Note in his favor. One page, 8.25" x 5.25", no place; October 12, 1769. The promissory note declares that Elkanah Leonard Jr., Zebulon Leonard and Shubael Tinkham of Middleborough will pay John Adams twenty four pounds, nineteen shillings and two pence. Adams endorsed the note on the verso, acknowledging a portion of the sum has been repaid. It reads in full: "Recd at Taunton of the within Elkanah Thirty Shillings in Part for which I gave him a receipt referring to this Note." Signed, "John Adams." Condition: Lightly rubbed and toned with smoothed folds.
