NEW ENGLAND / CANADIAN PAINTED PINE STEP-BACK CUPBOARD, in two parts, upper section with applied, boldly-molded cornice above two four-pane doors, lower case with two-board top having breadboard ends and applied bed moldings, above two paneled doors having applied moldings to outer edges of panels, top and bottom sections with paneled ends and moldings mimicking the doors, all raised on an applied base with bracket feet and boldly cut-out skirt. Later blue paint over the original red-washed surface. Found in northern Vermont. Mid 19th century. 76 3/4" H, 49 1/2" W, 22" D.
Very good condition, proper left upper door with insect damage to top inside edge and patch to inside of right stile, rear foot braces replaced, expected usage wear.
