Yarnell was an influential figure in Los Angeles history as he started the Weekly Mirror newspaper in Los Angeles which was ultimately purchased by Col. H.G. Otis and incorporated into the Times Mirror Company. Times Mirror published the Los Angeles Times. The Los Angeles Improvement Company laid out and sold lots in the downtown L.A. area and controlled the 2nd Street Street Railway. This is cert. #57, issued for 1255 shares to Witmer Bros. and Company in 1888. H.C. Witmer and W.S. Newhall had formed the Los Angeles Improvement Company in 1885.
