Description
***Auction Highlight*** 1802 BB-241/B-6 Draped Bust Dollar $1 Graded au58 By SEGS. Up for Auction is an incredibly attractive 1802 Draped Bust Dollar. Bowers Die State III. The BB-241 variety is the most plentiful 1802 variety, although no early dollar is common in the attractive, near-Mint condition of this sharp example. Identified as the "Narrow Date" variety -- an older term used on coin boards and dollar coin folders from many years ago -- the more common description is the Close Perfect Date because the 8 is abnormally close to the 1 in the date, resulting in a wide space between the 8 and 0. The easiest way to identify this variety is the missing foot on the T of LIBERTY.A lovely, thick patina of gunmetal blue surrounds golden-umber shades that cover the lustrous, silver surfaces of this dollar. Only a bit of rub prevents a Mint State designation. Virtually full details accompany perfect rims and centering. A few short, diagonal adjustment marks are visible with a glass, hidden in the toning across Liberty's bust and drapery. Early dollars are seldom found so nice. I have included another au58 for your comparison. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
