Description
East Asia, China, Qing dynasty, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. An impressive pair of porcelain urns, each exhibiting a circular base, a rounded shoulder, a brief neck, and an annular rim capped by a hemispherical lid with a flared periphery and top knob. Adorned with blue on white decoration below a lustrous glaze, these elegant vessels both feature intricately painted sea battle scenes, each comprised of three armed figures in a boat fighting three other figures who are enveloped in the swirling waters and spiraling waves of the sea. A pair of gorgeous examples from the late Qing dynasty! Size (identical in size): 10" in diameter x 18.5" H (25.4 cm x 47 cm)
