Tiffany's famed Art Deco Century flatware pattern was introduced in 1937 to mark the hundredth anniversary of the firm's founding. The pattern reflected perfectly the modernist art and architecture that was transforming American society. Century pattern flatware was shown at Tiffany & Co.'s booth at the 1939 New York World's Fair. It is probably the most important American Art Deco pattern flatware ever designed. Remarkably little of this pattern appears at auction and a service as extensive as this one has taken over a generation to assemble.
