American political lithograph depicting the American and French governments, 1836. Note: In the print, Andrew Jackson stands opposite King Louis Philippe of France holding up the "Treaty of 4 July 1831". Behind each of the men are members of their respective governments, the French looking confused and beaten, and the Americans victorious. The print contains other symbols of the strong American government, economy, and military, and the opposite conditions in France. Provenance: From the Lifetime Collection of Billy S. Arant, Jr., Chattanooga, TN. Approx. 22.5" x 25" (framed), 15" x 17.5" (sight)
