[Botero (Giovanni)] Observations vpon the liues of Alexander, Caesar, Scipio. Newly Englished, only edition, title with woodcut printer's device, woodcut head- and tail-pieces and decorative initials, lacking A1 (blank except for signature mark) and final blank, large ink stamp to foot of title and a smaller one to foot of final recto, A4 piece torn from outer margin, some water-staining, occasional spotting, lightly browned, contemporary limp vellum, lacking ties, orange library label to foot, lightly soiled, [STC 3397], 8vo, Printed by A. Islip, for Iohn Iaggard, 1602.
⁂ Only edition of this translation of Botero's I Prencipi, Turin, 1600, which considers three rulers of the ancient world. It was written for the three sons of Charles Emmanuel I, Duke of Savoy, and is rare at auction.
