1907-14, original Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost speedometer with flange mounted odometer for the early Ghost models (1907-14), the same instrument can still be found today in the very first Silver Ghost from 1907 (approval number: AX 201), that was the name giver of the production series, it was also made of brass like the offered object, afterwards it was on request of the brilliant RR-manager Claude Johnson silver-plated , from the very beginnings Rolls-Royce fall back to suppliers for parts like starter, dynamo and instruments, and also this Silver Ghost-speedometer was produced by "The Cowey Engeneering Co. LTD", in 1904 Cowey take out an English patent on this speedometer (Pat.No. 1375), recent comparison test with a modern speedometer cable confirmed the full working order of the offered instrument, with the faceted glasses that is in flawless condition it is offered an extreme rare museum piece from the brass era of the automobile history , the 2x1cm large cutout in the base of the speedometers (also at the AX 201 for see) wasn't afterwards cut in, it is the entry for the oil can to keep theshaft pliable

Das gleiche Instrument ziert noch heute den allerersten Silver Ghost von 1907 (Zulassungsnummer: AX 201), welcher der Baureihe seinen Namen gab. Dieses wurde, wie das angebotene Objekt, ebenfalls aus Messing gefertigt, später jedoch auf Wunsch des genialen RR-Managers Claude Johnson versilbert. Seit frühester Zeit greift Rolls-Royce für bestimmte Teile wie Anlasser, Lichtmaschinen und Armaturen auf Zulieferer zurück. So auch bei diesem Silver Ghost-Tacho, hergestellt von ?The Cowey Engeneering Co. LTD?. Cowey erhielt 1904 ein englisches Patent auf diesen Tacho (Pat.Nr. 1375). Neuerliche Vergleichstest mit einer modernen Tachowelle haben die volle Funktion der angebotenen Armatur bestätigt. Mit seinen facettierten Gläsern in makellosem Zustand kommt ein äußerst seltenes museales Objekt aus der Messing-Ära der Automobilgeschichte auf den Markt. Der 2x1cm große Ausschnitt im Sockel der Tachos (auch beim AX 201 zu sehen) wurde keinesfalls nachträglich eingeschnitten, er diente als Zugang für Ölkännchen, um die Welle geschmeidig zu halten.
