Rarissima edizione singola di Lana Terzi. Trattasi dell’opera che contiene l’intuizione più conclamata e decantata del Lana. L'invenzione teorica consisteva in una barca, che, sospesa con quattro solide corde a quattro globi di rame, nei quali si era preventivamente praticato il vuoto, doveva sollevarsi in aria e con l'aiuto di vele e di remi dirigersi ove meglio credeva. Purtroppo per la mancanza di un finanziamento e per il profetico timore da parte dello stesso Lana che l'invenzione potesse servire «a sconvolgere i vascelli, uccidere gli uomini, ed incendiare le navi, con fuochi artificiali, con palle e bombe», la bella idea del monaco gesuita rimase allo stato teorico. La nave volante ebbe, però, larga fama. Già nel 1676 il tedesco Sturm fa stampare nella sua opera "Collegium experimentale sive curiosum" volto in latino, un capitolo riguardante. Nello stesso anno il Prenscher esalta l'idea del Lana. Il Lohmeier, fa propria l'invenzione, mentre l'abate Giovanni Battista Roberti la decanta nel suo poemetto "La moda". Versi dedica ad essa anche l'abate Saverio Bettinelli; l'invenzione viene benevolmente accolta dal Leibnitz mentre Bernardo Zamagna dedica all'invenzione due libri di versi. Da studiosi ed enciclopedie il Lana verrà salutato come il precursore dell'aeronautica.Backer-S. IV, 1443, 5. Cfr. Dibner 176.

Interessantissima opera sulla storia dell’aerostatica e dell’aviazione. Viene qui delineata l’invenzione di Adolfo Corti di realizzare un pallone areostatico di forma ellissoidale, il cui asse maggiore fosse triplo del minore, che permettesse al pallone areostatico di seguire la direzione del grande asse. L’idea era quella di acquistar quota con le salite e le discese per piani inclinati.Costa, Saggi sull’areostatica e sull’areonautica, 1837, p. 106; Dizionario universale tecnologio o di arti e mestieri e della economia industriale e commerciante, 1835, p. 156.

Camillo Federici è stato un drammaturgo e attore teatrale italiano, il cui vero nome era Giovanni Battista Viassolo. Compì studi di diritto a Torino, ma mostrò ben presto una predilezione per la letteratura e per il teatro: il favore che accolse le sue prime prove lo spinse a intraprendere la carriera di attore e drammaturgo, e ottenne numerosi ingaggi in questa duplice veste per varie compagnie. La fama delle sue commedie si diffuse rapidamente in tutta Italia: la maggior parte dei suoi lavori apparteneva al genere del melodramma. Il titolo e l’autore sono presenti all’occhietto.

Very rare single edition by Lana Terzi. This is the work that contains the most evident and praised intuition of Lana. The theoretical invention consisted of a boat, which, suspended with four solid ropes with four copper globes, in which the void had previously been practiced, had to rise up in the air and with the help of sails and oars, go where it thought best. Unfortunately for the lack of a financing and for the prophetic fear from the same Lana that the invention could serve "to upset the vessels, to kill the men, and to set fire to the ships, with fireworks, with balls and bombs", the beautiful idea of the Jesuit monk remained in the theoretical state. The flying ship had, however, a wide reputation. Already in 1676 the German Sturm had a chapter in his work entitled "Collegium experimentale sive curiosum" printed in Latin. In the same year the Prenscher enhances the idea of the Wool. Lohmeier makes the invention his own, while the abbot Giovanni Battista Roberti decanted it in his poem "La moda". Versi also dedicates the abbot Saverio Bettinelli to it; the invention is kindly received by Leibnitz while Bernardo Zamagna dedicates two books of verse to the invention. From scholars and encyclopedias, Lana will be hailed as the forerunner of aeronautics.

Very interesting work on the history of aerostatics and aviation. The invention of Adolfo Corti of creating an ellipsoid air balloon, whose major axis was three times the minor, is described here, which allowed the aerostatic balloon to follow the direction of the great axis. The idea was to gain altitude with the climbs and descents for inclined planes.

Camillo Federici was an Italian playwright and theatrical actor, whose real name was Giovanni Battista Viassolo. He studied law in Turin, but soon showed a predilection for literature and for the theater: the favor that received his first tests led him to undertake a career as an actor and playwright, and he obtained numerous engagements in this dual capacity for various companies. The fame of his comedies spread rapidly throughout Italy: most of his works belonged to the genre of melodrama. The title and the author are present in half-title.
