Carlo Mollino (1905-1973) Bisiluro and OSCA cars, 1953-55Seven vintage gelatin silver prints. Five Bisiluro prints with Invernizzi credit stamp; two OSCA prints, one with Mollino's pencil sketchs on the verso. Each approximately cm 18 x 24 (7.1 x 9.4 in.) or the reverse Carlo Mollino was an architect, designer, photographer and writer, not to mention a race-car driver and pilot. He became intersted in a variety of topics that were as outrageous as his art "everythings is permissible as long as it is fantastic". That credo was certainly reflected throughout his body of work. This lot is a good example of his talent, vintage prints with car's design drawiangs in differents project stages. Carlo Mollino's works dedicated to motoring word date back to the early 50s, the most prolific years of his career. The racing car OSCA won for its class at the 'Leman's 24 hour race' in 1954. He redesaigned the OSCA to obtains new projects. Carlo Mollino often drew on his photographs, like in this case, to modify the shape and design of an object. You can see how the artist used airbrush and light blue color to develop aerodynamic lines of the auto body.(7)
