Description
1968 Bart Starr Super Bowl II Green Bay Packers "Jostens" Salesman's Sample Ring. From the very start of the Green Bay Packers' 1967 season, Vince Lombardi had one goal in mind, "Run to Win," all the way to his unprecedented third championship victory in a row. But Lombardi's final stint as head coach of the Green Bay Packers was filled with struggles from his aging veterans, adversity from the team's young up-and-comers, while facing its biggest test in the horrific conditions at the 1967 Championship Game, which is now widely known as "The Ice Bowl." However, no matter how many question marks the 1967 team faced, Lombardi somehow got his players to play above their physical talent levels, and in true Lombardi fashion, the Super Bowl II winning Packers left nothing on the field. Heritage Auctions is proud to present one of the most impressive and significant pieces of championship jewelry we have ever offered, a 100 percent authentic "Jostens" Super Bowl II ring. This "[size] 11 3/4" 14k gold piece presents three enormous white topaz stones, which symbolically represents each championship win in Lombardi's "Three-peat." As appropriate, "Josten 14k" is stamped in the interior band, while "STARR, NFL AFL Run to Win" and "Challenge" is showcased on the shanks. No high-quality Green Bay Packers memorabilia is complete without an original Super Bowl II ring, and this example is an unimprovable example from one of the most desirable pieces in the vintage gridiron hobby. Letter of Provenance from family of former Jostens sales representative.
