Description
(Lead, Tin and Cast Iron) J. & E. Stevens Company Cromwell, Ct. - Early 1880's Pristine Condition (Well Replaced Tin Trap) The Germania Exchange Bank appears to be a fascinating collaborative effort between Charles Bailey and the Stevens Company. In fact, it may actually represent Bailey's first assignment for the company. At the very least, he was certainly responsible for the creation of the painted lead goat who grasps a mug of beer in his forelegs. The Germania Exchange is valued as one of the most colorful and significantly rare toy banks in the hobby. This is a real showstopper. It has been chosen for illustration in several books.
