***Auction Highlight*** 1894/1--4-o vam 4 R4 Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms62+ DMPL By SEGS. Highlight of the Entire Auction. Once Again Sandi and I are proud to bring to auction that which effectively does not exist. We received this consignment from the same gentleman who gave us in the last auction the 1893-p in DMPL, which was so rare it was not even listed in the wholesale greysheet price guide. Well he not only had that coin but he also gave us his 1894-o in DMPL. This coin too is so rare it is not listed on the price guides. As I said in the last auction. It is one thing to have a numismatic rarity in a minor eclectic series, but to have a numismatic rarity in the most widely collected series is astounding. The coin at hand has some of the sharpest and deepest mirrored fields of any coin in the auction. It is without a doubt a DMPL. You can see individual hairs on your face. Incredible. The 1894-o is in and of itself rare in unc, but here we have an ms63 DMPL. PCGS estimates that 9 DMPL coins survive of the 1894-o in all grades, but I doubt that number. PCGS has only ever graded 3 coins as DMPL. Over the last 20 years an 1894-o has shown up at auction 5 times. Twice it was the same coin, the ex Jack Lee ms62 DMPL. I have included pictures of the ms62 dmpl, ex Jack Lee which really isn't DMPL, in an Old Green PCGS holder and an NGC ms61 DMPL. I once again believe you are looking at the single finest known example. Trends are ms61 DMPL $18,000 ms62 DMPL $28,500 and what a higher coin would bring is a mystery. At auction the ms62 DMPL brought $23,000 in 2009. The ms61 DMPL brought $15,275 in 2017. I wish you luck in obtaining the unobtainable tonight.
