Description

TWO HISTORICAL BLUE STAFFORDSHIRE PLATTERS: CLEWS NEWBURGH, HUDSON RIVER AND CANOVA PATTERN. Including ‘Picturesque Views of the Hudson River” by James and Ralph Clews (1829-1856), depicting the Hudson River from the city of Newburgh with underglaze blue mark on reverse, 20” L x 16 3/4” W, and Canova pattern stoneware platter 15 1/2” L x 13” W.

Condition

Each with crazing, some light staining, and minor abrasions. The Clews platter with a long hairline age crack, inpainting, and some yellowing from aged adhesive on the u.r. corner.
