The obverse of the coin features King George III looking to the right. Inscriptions include the year his name and “DEI GRATIA”.
The reverse of this coin depicts the 1817 design by the famous Italian engraver Benedetto Pistrucci. This design captures the legendary scene of St George slaying the evil dragon that tormented the Swedish kingdom for years. The dragon demanded one sacrifice each year and St. George is said to have slain the dragon mere moments before the Swedish princess was sacrificed.
