251-253 AD. Antioch mint. Obv: AYTOK K ? OYIB TPEB[ ?A??OC CEB] legend with laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, three pellets below. Rev: ?HMAPX E?OYCIAC legend with eagle standing right, head left, wreath in beak, wings spread, tail left; ? between legs; SC below. Prieur 660. 12.8 grams. ("). A high-ranking army general in the army that was defeated by the Goths, when Trajan Decius was killed. Trebonianus Gallus was proclaimed emperor by the army and bought peace with the Goths, provoking another invasion. There was much desperation during this time. The sources are unclear and often controversial, but there appears to have been a revolt led by a high-ranking Antiochene named Mariades, which aimed to make the 'East of Rome to become the West of Persia'.
