November 275-June 276 AD. Lyons mint. Obv: IMP C CL TACITVS AVG legend with radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right. Rev: PAX PVBLICA legend with Pax standing left, holding branch and sceptre. Sear-; RIC V(i) 45. 3.87 grams. ("). Property of an Essex gentleman. Tacitus reigned for around six months before his death, possibly by assassination. During his short reign however, he implemented a number of numismatic innovations. He is believed to have claimed descent from the famous historian Cornelius Tacitus. [No Reserve]
