Ansel Adams paid tribute to Sella's greatness in a 1946 article for the Sierra Club Bulletin when hewrote, "with Sella's sensitive insight and response the magnificence of mountains is distilled into a high order of expression."
This dramatic view of Jannu and its glacier shows the emotion and style that Ansel Adams pre-visualized 30 years later.

"The foot of the Jannu Glacier is 13,500 feet above sea-level. Its ramparts mark a complete and sudden change in scenery. Above them, with the exception of the brushwood on the slope near the village, all is bare rock and turf - the region is one of treeless pasture." p. 182. Round Kangchenjunga: A Narrative of Mountain Travel and Exploration, by Douglas Freshfield, London, Edward Arnold 1903.
