Description
The White Vending Machine Co. patented the "Happy Jap" chewing gum machine on August 26, 1902. The machine came in two versions, a stick gum version where the stick was vended lengthwise through the teeth of the Happy Jap, and this one, a tab gum version utilizing a mechanism similar to the Buffalo vending machine, also made by the White Vending Machine Co. Made out of cast-iron, this Happy Jap is in original paint. The paint shows signs of use and wear and the coin slide appears to be a replacement. It has a great vintage look, and a great add to any arcade, vending, or carnival collection. Reference: "Silent Salesman Too" by Bill Enes, page 151. Working. Condition: (Very Good). Dimensions: 14 - 1/2" x 9" x 11".
