A Federal carved and inlaid mahogany and flame birch secretary Manner of William Hook (1777-1867), Salem, MA, circa 1815

Condition
some mild sunfading throughout; some puckering and splitting to veneer to fold-out top; fold-out top with later felt baize to interior; some age cracks to sides of lower half; cornice with some losses to inlay, especially to central fan motif; some occasional losses to inlay and veneer to front of bottom half, including to apron; mullions to doors with some cracks and occasional missing sections; one glass pane on right-facing door with crack; brasses may be original- no sign of later screw holes
