BIOGRAPHY:
Born on August 26, 1885 in Rush County, Indiana, Frank L. Spradling was the son of William Thomas and Ada Spradling. His wife was Dorothy (Brekhus-Olsen) Spradling.
Spradling taught composition and design at the Chicago Academy of Fine Art and the Chicago School of Applied and Normal Art under the direction of Miss Emma M. Church. He later illustrated color serials for the Ladies Home Journal, Delineator, Designer, McCall's, Saturday Evening Post, as well as Zane Grey's Books for over 20 years.
For many years his residence was in Forest Hills, New York. The artist maintained commercial studios in New York City and New Jersey.
He died on August 16, 1972.
