Description
Large Chinese Archaic Jar on a Mother-of-Pearl Inlaid Rosewood Base. Of ovoid form applied with a pair of taotie mask handles and surmounted by a waisted neck and everted rim, the body carved in relief with a dense pattern of interlocking stylized dragons, interrupted by two horizontal plaited bands. On a hexagonal rosewood base decorated with elegant mother-of-pearl inlay depicting the Six Arts symbols. {Height: 14 1/2 inches (36.8 cm)}. Provenance: Property from the Richard I. Stone Estate. Condition: Age-related wear, discoloration.
