This cotton 1870's/1880's lone star quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted, with borders on two sides and unusual diamonds in the corners. It measures 70" X 78" and is in excellent condition, with a couple of small spots (see pics) and no wear. There is quilting around the perimeter of each piece and in straight line and diamond designs in the background, all at an even 8-9 stitches to the inch. The back is white, the machine stitched binding is a late 19th century red print, and the batting is thin. You can see cotton seed residue inside when you hold the quilt up to the light.
