Chinese Ming Dynasty Period, Hongzhi Yellow Glazed Monochrome Porcelain Bowl on Carved Wooden stand. Potted with a shallow body, has an open mouth, slight flaring, deep arced body, and raised on small footed ring base with slight concave. The vase has famille jaune fetal, refined pure yellow egg yolk colors. The vessel shape of the vase are of light color, messiness and elegance. The yellow glaze creates a mottled effect around the rim which is likened unto the blushing of human skin. Yellow in Chinese it is called Huang You. The technique of producing it only became matured in the Hongzhi Period of the Ming. There are also high and low temperature glazes. The yellow comes from the ferric oxide in the reducing atmosphere. Its first appearance was in the Tang Dynasty. There are Tender Yellow (Jiao Huang), Wax Yellow (Mi La Huang), Egg Yellow (Dan Huang You) and Eel Yellow (Shan Yu Huang). The glaze is lustrous and glittering, giving a sense of fresh and bright. Elegantly and smooth presented upon a carved zitan hardwood stand with archaic ruyi pattern. The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark, enclosed within double fine blue rings, Made In The Years of Hongzhi Reign Period of The Great Ming Dynasty.
