In-house Work Group (Columbia) Records gold award for Sponge's album Rotting Piñata. Released on July 29, 1994, the album produced the hit "Plowed" which rose to #5 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart and the album peaked at #58 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. This is a label award recognizing 500,000 in sales. The album was in fact certified Gold by the RIAA for 500,000 in sales on July 14, 1995. Note that this is not a RIAA award. This award was given to an radio industry executive Walt Brown of WWBR.
