Description
Torrington, CT, c. 1830. Flat-top shelf clock of diminutive size, the reverse-painted lower tablet featuring a scene titled "View n ewar Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania" and the back with a large Goshen, NEW YORK railroad broadside. 24" high. This lot is eligible for pick-up or furniture/freight shipping. If you need assistance with shipping, please contact us.
Condition
Lower tablet cracked and stabilized, minor losses to the case; we do not guarantee the working condition of clocks. Retains weights, pendulum, and key.
NOTE: The column paint has age, but it's shinier than I'd like, and the wear is pretty even. That said, when this clock sold at Cottone (May 2018, lot 520), the column paint wasn't questioned in the description and the strong price it brought suggested that at least some buyers thought it was fine. Please review the photographs.
