Description
Sonnenberg (Kidron), Ohio, mid-19th century, poplar. Dovetailed case with bracket feet and retaining its original floral decoration on red ground. 21.7” high by 38” wide by 19.5” deep. This chest was previously misattributed to Valentine Yoder (based on the base profile) and illustrated in Richmond, Equal in Goodness: Ohio Decorative Arts, 1788-1860, pp. 52-53.
