The mintmark is centered between TWENTY and DOLLARS, one of two varieties identified for the 1890-CC twenties. The other die marriage shows the mintmark further right, with the second C above the upright of D in DOLLARS. Most examples of this popular Carson City double eagle are sharply struck (as is the case here), yet show numerous bagmarks. The issue becomes scarce in MS62 and is an important rarity any finer.The present MS62+ Details example is less abraded than most, but significant hairlines require the details grade. No wear is present. Frosted mint luster glows beneath attractive medium orange-gold color. Struck from lapped dies, with traces of proof likeness around the portrait, and most of the tailfeathers polished away at the viewer's right. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
