Miro, Joan, et al., Andre Breton and Marcel Duchamp (editors), Le Surrealisme en 1947, number 357 of 950 copies of the deluxe edition, complete with all 25 original prints bound in, softcover, original wraps with printed acetate jacket, no slipcase, published by Pierre a Feu and Maeght, Paris and printed by Mourlot. An exceptional catalog with some important original graphics, including Joan Miro's first color lithograph, etchings by Yves Tanguy, Hans Bellmer and Dorothea Tanning, an early Alexander Calder lithograph, color lithos by Victor Brauner, Man Ray, Wilfredo Lam and Max Ernst, two woodcuts by Jean Arp and many others. NB: The colophon calls for 24 original prints, but doesn't include the one by Man Ray, thus, complete copies have 25. This exhibition was the first post-WW2 survey of Surrealism, put on by Breton and Duchamp to celebrate their collaborators who were thriving before the war started. Condition
In good condition, light toning throughout, prints still clean and securely bound; jacket missing spine section, two instances of black marker on the spine.
