Gordon Cooper (1927-2004) Astronaut. Cooper was the youngest of the original seven Mercury astronauts. He was the last Mercury astronaut and thus the last American astronaut to fly alone in space. His mission, in his Faith 7 capsule, from May 15 to 16 in 1963, covered 34 hours, 20 minutes. His second, and last, trip into space was on Gemini 5, a two-man, eight-day mission in August 1965. 16 ½” x 10 ¼” copy of the Agreement on the Rescue of Astronauts, signed. There are a Moon Landing and Apollo 9 commemorative stamps affixed and cancelled next to his signature.
