Beverly Cleary (1916-2021) Children’s book author. Cleary's books are set in the Grant Park neighborhood of northeast Portland, Oregon, where she was raised, and she has been credited as one of the first authors of children's literature to figure emotional realism in the narratives of her characters, often children in middle-class families. Her book, Henry and the Clubhouse, William Morrow & Co., 1962, signed o the first blank page, “To Michael – Enjoy! Beverly Cleary.” There is uneven toning around the inscription and signature, no dust jacket, some sun fade and shelf wear.
