Central Europe, Kraslice / Graslitz, Czechoslovakia, modern day Czech republic, ca. 1918 to 1938 CE. A beautiful metal clarinet and carrying case manufactured by V. Kohlert & Sons of Graslitz. The bell is stamped with the makers' mark and serial number "262097." Included is a small clamp for holding sheet music while marching. The case is felt lined and the exterior is covered with a textured brown cloth. Vincenz Kohlert founded the Kohlert company in 1840 in what was then Bohemia. After his death his sons re-branded as V. Kohlert's Sohne and by 1938 they were the largest woodwind manufacturer in Germany. Size (case): 15.25" L x 53.75" W (38.7 cm x 136.5 cm); (clarinet): 26.5" L (67.3 cm)

Condition
Losses to cork on connecting areas. Losses to mouth piece which is not original to the instrument. Keys are stiff and some do not work or align with holes. Bending and indentations to metal areas. Has not been tested for functionality. Rich patina and clear marker's mark. Case has fraying and cracking to surfaces with areas of discoloration. Indentation and perforation to the bottom.
