English, 19th century. An open-faced (albeit with engraved 18k wrap) pocket watch in 18k gold case, marked on dial "Magnus, London. 8836", and with numerous hallmarks to interior of backing, including crown and 18 mark for 18k, 8836, P&R N.Y, and a pair of smaller hallmarks, including a bear's head, and another indistinguishable. The back of the case is exceptionally engraved with a recumbent canine and feather and foliate design. The interior backing also exceptionally engraved with a bird and egg's nest.
