Item Details
Description
All letters are circa 8 x10" with printed letterhead; including inked manuscript letter with cover dated Oct. 4, 1890 (posted 6th) addressed to Miss Florence Atkinson, Granville, Ohio reading in part Dear little Sweetheart I'm down at the office to-night to make out the pay role for to marrow, and before beginning i sahll devote a very few minutes to you. I have only received one letter thus far this week, but I'm hoping to get one to morrow. I'm getting quite lonesome to see you again and may drop into Granville unexpectedly some of these times. I will probably be at Celina one or two days next week and if i can arrange it I shall wire you a day or so before hand. The folks have been away all day to a funeral. Our country lawyer died suddenly, or at least rather unexpectedly and of course the whole King Delegation attended his funeral, your humble being left in charge to day. Sweetheart can you imagine me doing such a base thing as flirting with a married woman, Girlie swallow it and I'll be happy again. S--is is packing her trunk to night. She leaves to-marrow for Springfield Mass, and will spend the winter in the east. I'm very glad she can go yet i hate see her leave on my own selfish account for i know about how lonesome it will be at home without her. Sweetheart, I'm still loving you to death and every day looking in vain for a letter. Please don't disappoint me so much. The other boys are here now and i must break away to work until about eleven. Your loving boy Harry Lee; plus three TLS ink stamped R.A. King autographs dated 1928, 1939 & 1958 with the last being a letter to employees about lay-offs. The other item include a bank check from King Powder Co., dated 1936 to Warren County lumber Co. plus printed cover for same; plus correction on artwork and text of handbill on King Permissible High Explosives with illustration of open crate and inked corrections initialed, 8 x10 1/2"; plus illustration of can of Quick Shot powder on 5 1/2 x7" stock paper; and printed label with logo for Quick Shot Black Powder, 2 1/2" square.
