A very good and large 20th century sterling silver bowl by Carl Poul Petersen bowl, showing a subtle planished surface sided by organic handles, measuring 3.75" high at the handles x 10" diameter across the handles. Weight, 413 grams. Note: Carl Poul Petersen (b. Denmark 1895 , d. Canada 1977) was a Master Silversmith who apprenticed with Georg Jensen in Copenhagen from 1908-1913. He immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1929, and began working with Birks Ltd. He then later opened his own shop in Montreal in 1944. Carl Poul Petersen remains one of Canada's most celebrated silversmiths whose work is sought out by collectors worldwide, with examples of his work in the permanent Collection at the National Gallery of Canada, in Ottawa.
