An I-5 R-6 Variety. It is the very first time we have ever brought this amazing variety to Auction. The 2006 new VAM of the year is one of the most spectacular die gouge Morgans since the 90-CC tailbar. A barrage of over 30 gouges batter the reverse of this variety. Many of the gouges are sizeable, especially those just above and around the eagle's right leg and talons. Over 12 large and 18 small die gouges on eagle and arrow shafts and feathers, the largest number of die gouges known on any Morgan dollar reverse die. Large broad horizontal gouge on tail feathers between legs with slanted gouge at lower left and right. Four vertical, horizontal and slanted gouges in arrow feathers below eagle’s right talons plus two short gouges just below arrow feathers. Long vertical gouges between eagle’s left wing and neck and between eagle’s right wing and leg. Two short broad gouges between eagle’s left wing and body and four short gouges in middle of eagle’s left wing and at bottom. Two short gouges at top of eagle’s right wing and several at back of arrow heads and above and below eagle’s left talons.
