Caroline Helena Armington was a Canadian born artist who spent much of her adult life living in Paris, France. It was on her first trip to the city in 1900 that she married her husband, Canadian artist Frank Armington. The couple briefly returned to Canada after their honeymoon, but would return to Paris in 1905, where they would remain for the next three decades. Her etchings were displayed at the Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts in 1913, and she won a silver medal at the Societe des amis des arts de Seine et Oise in Versailles in 1919. A solo exhibition of her etchings and paintings was held at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, D.C in 1924. A joint exhibition for her and her husband was held at the Art Gallery of Toronto in 1924.

During World War I, the Armingtons' served at the American Ambulance Hospital in Paris. Caroline served as a nurse, a profession she had been formally trained in prior to marriage, and her husband as an orderly.
