Title: Station Log Book 6-18-47 to 10-11-47 S.F.P.D.
Place Published: San Francisco
Publisher:
Date Published: 1947
Description:
799 pages. Printed forms filled out in ink, with occasional rubberstamps for repetitive instances of malfeasance. 40x27 cm (15¾x10¾"), canvas-covered thick boards.
A vast number of police actions are recorded over a period of less than four months on the mean streets of San Francisco, ranging from investigating noisy parties and cars backfiring to burglary and attempted suicide, and ammonia escaping from a refrigerator. There are many instances of drunkenness and domestic quarrels, and, being San Francisco, the occasional tenant-landlord dispute. For each day, the officers at the station are named, the vehicles used and their mileage logged, the times of the complaints noted, whom received from, the address, complaint i.d., officers sent to investigate, action taken, etc. A fascinating look at the range of criminality, and simple circumstances, in post-war San Francisco.
