Description
An early George III sterling silver fish slice, London 1763 by Paul Callard (reg. 8th Jan 1752) Old English pattern, virginal erased. The spade shaped blade with pierced decoration of nought-cross and foliate scrolls. Fully marked to stem. Length – 30.5 cm / 12.15 inches Weight – 150 grams / 4.82 ozt The Callard family were prolific manufactures of flatware in the mid-18th century, starting with Paul’s father Issac who first registered a mark on the 7th February 1726. Paul Callard died in 1768.
