Description
An early 20th century Iranian (Persian) silver mustard pot and salt, Isfahan circa 1900 mark of Ja’far Qajar dynasty, each of compressed circular form raised on three ball and tube feet. The mustard pot with a removable domed lid cut with a spoon aperture and surmounted by a knop finial. The bodies with deep chased monabbat-kari decoration of Achaemenid style figures. The mustard with King Darius in combat with Ahriman, Khosrow Parviz on his favourite horse, Shabdiz, tribute bearers before King Darius and the salt with Shirin bathing, her attendant holding a towel, being approached by Khusraw, all against a textured ground. The mustard pot lid with tessellated rosettes below finial. Each marked underneath with workshop mark Amal-e Ja'far امل جعÙر (the work of Ja’far).
